We all experience stress, anxiety, sadness, and other forms of emotional distress at one point or another in our lives. Most of the time, we’re able to bounce back. But sometimes we might need a little help in doing so.

Maybe you’re feeling down or anxious and you feel you’re unable to “snap out of it”. Or maybe you’re noticing negative patterns in your lifestyle which you cannot seem to break. Here, it can be beneficial to seek therapy if you want to improve your quality of life and well-being.

Mental health is integral to living a healthy, well-balanced life. Our mental health encompasses our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. This means it affects how we think, feel, and act each day. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices.

Our physical and mental health are delicately intertwined, and both are equally important components of overall health. For example, depression increases the risk for many types of physical health problems such as heart and vascular diseases. Similarly, the presence of chronic conditions can increase the risk for developing mental illness.

Therefore, caring for our mental health can promote productivity and effectiveness in day-to-day activities, and it plays an important part in the health of our relationships, quality of life and allows us to adapt to changes and cope better with adversity.

At TalkTime, we are passionate about creating a community that is collaborative and welcoming, hence we have partnered with forward-thinking, highly skilled, and compassionate therapists to join our team.

TalkTime therapists are licensed, trained, experienced, and accredited psychologists (PhD / PsyD), marriage and family therapists (MFT), clinical social workers (LCSW), or licensed professional counsellors (LPC).

All of our therapists hold a Master’s Degree or a Doctorate Degree in their specialized field and are trained in evidence-based approaches, which are psychotherapy practices that have been proven to be effective, rather than based solely on theory.

While their specialization, expertise, and background vary, they all possess at least 3 years. To ensure you get the most out of therapy, our providers are clinically supervised on a regular basis

Yes it is!

Research has consistently shown that online treatment can be very effective for many mental health conditions, if not more effective in some circumstances, than traditional face-to-face therapy.

For example, in a high-quality study published in the Journal of Affective Disorders found that online treatment was just as effective as face-to-face intervention for depression.

A more recent international study published in the Journal of Psychological Disorders in 2018 found that online cognitive behavioural therapy is, “effective, acceptable and practical health care.” The study found that online cognitive behavioural therapy was equally as effective as face-to-face therapy for several mental health conditions, including major depression, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder.
Others of the many benefits of online treatment include comfort and easier access to treatment, no travel restrictions, convenience, and affordability.

It often takes at least 1 session to identify the underlying situation; set some treatment goals and design a treatment plan. Then depending on the nature of the situation, the best evidence-based therapy can take anything between 6 to 18 sessions.
Therefore, and to get the most out of therapy, regular sessions with your therapist are important
